Most people reject Christ before they even meet him.

Why is that?

Not because he isn’t real. Many think that he is.

Not because He isn’t good. Many think he was.

But because the version they are introduced to is packaged, polished, and judgmental. He has a reputation that precedes him. Before he has even got there, people have made their minds up about him. Judging a book by its cover?

It’s a Jesus wrapped in perfection, with rules, schedules, and expectations. This is not Jesus. This is not Christ. This is Christianity.

Here at returntojesus.co.uk, we abhor religion. We abhor rituals and expectations. We abhor it all.

This does not mean we do not abide by a set of moral and ethical standards, but it doesn’t mean that we pre or proscribe these on anyone. People will fall, but that does not mean the end.

In many ways, it means the beginning. That’s where a body like ReturntoJesus comes in.

Jesus came to obliterate the law within which punishment was its most defining part. Simply look at the book of Leviticus.

It will put you off Christianity forever. No human can uphold what is in that book, and, frankly, God bless you if you are trying.

But try as you may, you WILL fail. The rules are for angels, of which we are not.

Through Christianity people are presented with a Jesus who seems more like a boss than a friend. A judge. A dictatot to relish in setting you unliveable standards.

A Jesus who tells people what they must do, who they must be, and how to think, be and act.

No.

No one can survive under that.

Jesus is nothing to do with that. He is nothing to do with religion, although Christians will tell you different. They want to own Christ and believe a religion, called Christianity is the way to do it.

It is not. Jesus came to love, to care and break the shackles of bondage to rules, regulations and laws.

People who confide in and find Jesus, are people who are drawn to a saviour who understands their world. Not one who lectures from outside it. Not like preachers from a pulpit casting you all into castigation, with an Amen.

Fear has always kept the church alive.

Return to Jesus shows you there is no need to fear. No need to fear anything actually. Nothing at all. Now how’s that for an Amen..Amen!

If you want someone who is there in the middle of your exhaustion, in the middle of your mistakes, in the middle of a life that’s messy and upsetting. If you want someone who knows what it feels like to carry regrets that won’t leave, to face days that feel heavy and empty, then returntojesus will help return you to Jesus, where, and only where, you will find your cure.

That is the Jesus of the Gospels. The one who walked among fishermen who failed, tax collectors who were despised, women and prostitutes ignored, crowds exhausted and hungry. He didn’t show up with a perfectly packaged lesson plan complete with perfect punishment if you do not follow it. He showed up in the mess to show you, and us, it can be healed, it can be reshaped.

This is why people don’t need a new system, a better plan, or a set of rules. They need Him. Someone who walks with them though their story, not from the outside, but from within the struggle itself. Exactly where you are.
